Buddhism and Transpersonal Psychology

The growing dialogue between Buddhism and Psychotherapy increasingly demonstrates the significance of introducing Buddhist understanding to the therapeutic context. This series of workshops will focus upon deepening personal experience of Buddhist psychology and practices of meditation and visualisation as a resource for work in any therapeutic situation.

The course will include an exploration of Buddhist principles in relation to those particularly of Jung. Time will be given to the development of meditation skills relevant to therapeutic presence vital to the healing process. There will be an in-depth exploration of the processes of Tantra as a living example of alchemical transformation. Throughout there will be an investigation of aspects of Spiritual Pathology particularly relevant to modern times.

This series of workshops is designed for those interested in integrating key approaches to psychological transformation found within Buddhism into the therapeutic, healing or counceling context. Participants need not have an extensive knowledge of Buddhism but some understanding of Transpersonal or Jungian psychology would be helpful. These workshops can contribute towards CPD for those in the Psychotheryapy world.

Suggested reading for this course would be: The Psychology of Buddhist Tantra & The Wisdom of Imperfection.
