FINDING YOUR WILD BODY

HEALING MOVEMENT WORKSHOPS

WORKING WITH THE ‘WILD’ BODY

Your ‘Wild Body’ connects you to your inner knowing, the pulse of nature within you.

As a child it’s likely you were in touch with your ‘Wild Body’, you knew what you needed and when you needed it. As you grew up you will have learnt how to tame or civilise this, allowing you to negotiate and co-operate with others. This may however have resulted in your losing touch with, or devaluing some of your wild nature. ‘Finding Your Wild Body’ through Healing Movement is about re-connecting to the ‘wild’ part of yourself and exploring how you can be with it in your daily life in a way that honours both your wild and tamed aspects. It is about standing on the threshold and honouring all parts of your being.

This allows you take time for yourself to listen to your needs and fulfil them.

It enables you recognise and honour the inner scream that tells you that something is not good for you.

Most importantly it helps you to have the courage to follow your heart when it begins to sing….

Following your heart voice leads you to where you need to be in yourself, in your life and in relation to others.

“Anna offers a gentle and allowing space”  - Lorna Bird, Karuna Therapist UKCP regd. and 5 Rhythms Movement Teacher.

“You help me feel more at ease in my skin, more at home in my place in the world” – Madhu Anhes,Karuna Therapist UKCP regd. and Homoeopath RShom.

HEALING MOVEMENT

is a way of connecting to your wild body though listening with presence and awareness to your body’s energy. Through this you can become more aware of, and practice expressing your energy as it arises, and resting with it as it withdraws, thus following your own natural rhythm and opening to the wisdom it holds. Moving mostly without music but sometimes with sound you can learn how to keep your body alive, awake and open to the spirit flowing through you. This allows you to be in touch with, and receive yourself in your core nature thus enabling you to emerge into a fuller sense of embodiment.

From this work, which is largely grounded in an indoor studio space you can begin to explore your wild nature outdoors, from an embodied perspective.

OPENING TO THE WORLD OF PLANTS

As you may experience between human beings, there is an energetic point of meeting and communicating that plants in particular are very open and responsive to. Being in touch with your ‘wild’ body helps you to connect to, communicate and receive guidance and help from the Plant Spirits that surround us. Opening to the quality of a plant can help you to open to that quality in yourself.

These workshops give you time to open to your physical and energetic awareness of nature and the world of plants.

Explore texture, shape, colour, feeling, sensation and your deeper spiritual connection to plants.

Anna brings her experience of movement together with her practice as a Plant Spirit Medicine Practitioner to facilitate a deep healing relationship with nature.
PROGRAM

Autumn 2008

HEALING MOVEMENT GROUP FOR WOMEN

Fortnightly on Thursday mornings in the Totnes area, for women interested in working with healing through movement.

The group is grounded in exploring your relationship with yourself, using movement and body awareness as a tool for understanding and transformation. From a place of listening to your own rhythm and energy flow we will work towards opening to the environment with growing strength and steadiness.

As the group develops we will begin to explore what arises in relationship, with the intention of deepening your capacity for congruity, integrity and compassion.

For women who are interested in exploring in this way with a depth and commitment to their healing process.

Open to those who have some experience of working with movement/body awareness.

The first session each term will be open to new participants,  (max 8), if you decide to continue I will ask for a commitment to a term.

Winter Term starts – THURSDAY 17th January 2008

BACKGROUND

Anna Murray Preece has been working with movement and healing for over 20 years. What she brings to this work in particular is a combination of her “Healing Movement’ work, her training in Plant Spirit Medicine and her many years of Homeopathic Practice.

She has facilitated “Healing Movement” workshops since 1996 having trained to teach “Move Into Life’ with Sandra Reeve and studied extensively with Suprapto Suryodarmo, Ruth Noble and other teachers of movement. Since 1997 she has co-facilitated meditation and movement retreats in Vajrayana Buddhism with her husband Rob. Between 2002 – 2004 she facilitated a movement group at Harmony Rehabilitation Centre for adults with addictions.

Anna trained at The School of Homoeopathy, qualifying in 1987 and tutored for the college between 1997 and 2006. She is registered with the Society of Homoeopaths.

In 2005 she completed training in Plant Spirit Medicine with Eliot Cowan. This is a healing modality that brings together Shamanism and Classical Chinese Medicine, using Five Element Methodology. Eliot Cowan is a Shaman in the Mexican Huichol tradition, having undergone a 12 year apprenticeship.

She completed the Karuna Foundation Course in Psychotherapy in 2000/01.

Anna’s movement teaching is very much informed by her own process of healing, and the growth that this has, and does necessitate. Working with nature has always been a large part of this. Her practice of Buddhist meditation has been a support and source of nourishment for many years. She is mother to two lively and lovely sons.
